News » Women Conference Flays Buhari

Wed Jul 31 2019 -

The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria His Excellency General Mohammadu Buhari has been called upon to focus attention on delivering good governance to the people of Nigeria. This call was made by the President of Women Organizations, Diocese of Amichi Anglican Communion, Dame Nkem Ikeakor. Dame Ikeakor delivering her address to the 11th Amichi Diocesan women conference held at the church of Divine Compassion, Obiofia - Amichi lamented that our nation Nigeria has been enmeshed in all kinds of problem eating up the very fabric of our nationhood. Dame Ikeakor condemned the preferential treatment President Buhari has reserved for a particular religious sect and tribe in Nigeria to the exclusion of others. She called on the president to stop the continued slid before it becomes too late. According to Dame Ikeakor, “our dear nation Nigeria has continued to slide. It has been from one sad story to another. If Boko Haram is not destroying, herdsmen are killing and kidnapping. Now it is Ruga. Whether we call it cattle colony or Ruga or National Livestock Transformation Programme, we want to remind Mr. President, Alhaji Mohammadu Buhari that Nigeria is meant for all of us and not for a particular sect or tribe. The Igbos do not enjoy rent free markets or estates where they reside and do their business. The Yorubas do not enjoy free land to do their cocoa plantation anywhere in Nigeria. People of the Middle Belt or the South-South region do not enjoy any form of free facility in their chosen endeavour. Why are we reserving this exclusive VIP treatment for the Fulanis?”. She queried. Speaking further, she said “May I remind Mr. President that the business of governing Nigeria is more important than the ethno-religious cleansing agenda he is pursuing with his kinsmen. The time to stop is now.”
