News » State of the Nation: We need intercessors in Nigeria –Bishop Ikeakor

Until intercessors have emerged in the country, the problems and challenges bedeviling this country would continue unabated and possibly without end. Even if every Nigerian has been authorized to wield   a gun in self defense, the problematic condition occasioned by political crisis, economic meltdown and insecurity will continue to nose-dive.

The visionary Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese in Nnewi south local Government area of Anambra state, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev Ephraim Ikeakor, who made these disclosures during the 2018 May 1st Prayer Breakfast Programme at the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew, Amichi, insisted that any person that will bail this country from the afore-mentioned challenges must be a man/woman with the power of intercession.

This intercessory power, according to Rt. Rev Ikeakor is with those Christians who are genuinely and truly repented, otherwise referred to as God's friends. Abraham was one of the reliable and undisputed intercessors. Apostle Pete, he preached was not only penciled down, but eye marked for elimination  by Herod, but that it was intercession by the Church that saved Peter from being unjustly killed because he vehemently was witnessing and professing Christ as the only savior for mankind.

He prophesied that the country's problems could come to an end, when intercessors (God's Friends) like Abraham interceded on behalf of Sodom and Gomorrah. He took the text of His message from the Acts of Apostle 12:1-11. He queried, can today's church intercede in the problems/Challenges facing the country like during Peter's time that he was saved through intercession by the Church. He quoted Gen 18: 16, 22, Ezekiel 22: 27, 29 and 30 to support his sermon. He spoke on the topic: The Power of Intercession.
